Soft and/or leaking shocks will affect the handling of your car, and the wear patterns on your tyres. This is also the item on the suspension that controls the “wheel Bounce” over rough services and under braking. If the travel action is poor, the tyre is not making contact with the road as it should, and will increase brake distances, and add wear to other suspension components as well. Worn shock saddles can also cause “knocking” and contribute to an unstable ride. Wear on rack ends, tie rod ends, and ball joints will also cause unpleasant suspension noise and throw out alignment. All these items work hand in hand and should be checked before every alignment.
